Our tug is soon to be two years old. This morning, while preparing to tow it down to San Francisco Bay for a weekend of high life in the city in our fiberglass hotel room, I opened the cabin door and was greeted with that wonderful, welcoming, familiar (toxic?) smell of a new boat. I realize that within minutes the cabin airs out and/or I become desensitized to the complex molecules given off from curing resins....but that wiff of fun to come is sure great. Like a dog greeting you at the door.
So, veteran tug owners, how much longer can I expect this exquisite perfume to last? The boat is on a trailer, reducing the likelihood that mildew will overwhelm it.
If any of you Bay Area tugs are on the water this weekend, we are in Pier 39, being watched, along with the sea lions, by 100,000 turoids.
