Hi All,

We are very excited to announce the sixth live webinar in our series, “As the Prop Turns”. This week’s episode is called "Top 5 Trailerable Trawler Destinations". It will be presented by Jim and Lisa Favors from TrailerTrawlerLife.com. This is an episode you will not want to miss!

Jim and Lisa have trailered and cruised their Ranger Tug to many of the most popular cruising destinations in the USA and Canada. For this webinar they have chosen their five favorite destinations and will be sharing entertaining and informational content about each. They’ve gathered dozens of fun and beautiful photos to help illustrate the magic to be found at each cruising destination. You will have the opportunity to ask Jim and Lisa questions about their travels live after the presentation.

This installment will take place this Thursday, 5/28/20 at 10:00am PDT using the Zoom platform. We anticipate the webinar to be from 30 to 60 minutes long. Each episode will also be available to watch on YouTube after the live broadcast.

Please join for free by registering here: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/5115874836807/WN_K6on6saYRXaybQ59RC5Kmw

Looking forward to chatting Thursday!

Hi Sam, any idea how many Tuggers and Cutters tow their rigs 500 or 1000 per trip? And do outboards get towed more or less than inboards?

Hi Alice J, I don't have exact numbers for you but there are a fair number of people (including yourself) that have taken at least one major trip to another part of the county to cruise. For many it's an annual or biennial trip.

We are seeing a lot the 8' 6" beam boats which are all outboard powered, selling with trailers. I would say that more people trailer the 8' 6" beam boats than the 10' beam boats.

Jim and Lisa might have some further insight on this. They have been out trailering/cruising frequently for years. I bet they have a good feel for what's out there.

Don't forget to register and tune in tomorrow for As the Prop Turns!

AliceJ,
We tow about 1200 miles a season. The first 1100 miles are just getting to and from our launch point in Bellingham, WA which is one round trip per season.
We are expecting to tow from Southern Oregon up to the northern tip of Vancouver Island next season to visit the Broughtons. By towing and using the BC Ferry to cross the Strait of Georgia then driving north from Nanaimo, we save six days of cruising through mostly familiar waters, miss going through 3 rapids two times and save a lot on fuel. It gives us a lot more time in the Broughtons rather than time spent getting to the Broughtons. We have also thought about towing south to Lake Shasta and/or the Sacramento delta area in late Spring some year to get an early start to the season.
Can’t imagine boating for us without the ability to tow!

AliceJ,
Add us to the towing list. Our home port is Lake Tahoe and our boat lives on a trailer. We have made several trips from the Sacramento area to the PNW including the Columbia. We have done the ferry to Nanaimo up to the Broughtons as scross describes. Separate trips to Desolation Sound, Princess Louisa, San Juan’s and Canadian Gulf islands in addition to Lake Powell, Lake Havasu, Shasta, Oroville, Folsom, Bullards Bar, Lake Tahoe and the Sacramento Delta/Bay area. We too cannot imagine not trailering. If the border opens we will be back in Canada this summer after a couple weeks in Lake Powell.

This Zoom meeting was really great, with lots of good information from Jim & Lisa, really nice sharp photos, great showing of toenails, many many question being asked and answered, along with the great RT folks. It lasted close to two hours and for me was absolutely captivating. Kudos to Jim & Lisa for putting on such an interesting show for us.

I've never used Zoom before and was a bit nervous about its security, but all went well as best I could figure. One can always de-install the Zoom application if that bothers anyone. I could see the RT folks and Jim & Lisa, but could not see the other attendees.... (I could here them at times asking a question though) .... maybe I did not setup Zoom preferences properly... so dunno why I had this issue.

There must have been a good 50 to 60 questions.

It was obvious that Jim & Lisa have a great deal of experience with trailering their boat, and Oh, they've been to so many glorious locations with their ability to trailer the boat.

If you missed this Zoom meeting then I hope RT posts a link to the Zoom recording that includes all the questions/answers as well. RT told me during the meeting they have recorded it in their iCloud storage space.

Thank you Jim & Lisa and RT/CW for hosting this meeting. 😀

Thanks for your kind words Barry, we enjoyed working with Sam and Brian putting this together over the last couple of weeks. It was a little long but it seemed to zip by fairly fast. Glad you enjoyed it.

We’re running behind on this one. It will be posted Monday. It was extra long and we wanted to clean up the lag in the slide switching before we post. We also just wrapped up a big photo/video shoot today which kept us away from our computers. We’ll get it edited and posted ASAP.

Thanks!

Thank you so much for doing this. I too have one of those pesky job things the prevents me from tuning in to these sessions. My wife and I are planning the whole boaterhoming thing with our R27 starting next spring, we're eager to wath this session!
