Come on, come all - I am in the process of installing an Airhead on our new R27 and will remove the Macerator Pump and Y-Valve since they no longer needed and have never been used. These list for $480 from the factory if orded as an option. I would be happy to accept $150 for both if anyone is interested. You can send me a private message if you don't want to discuss it in an open forum. Thanks much.

Just a question...
With normal setup on Ranger Tugs the USCG inspection will want to know where the Y-valve is and that it's in the closed position. This satisfies the USCG that all is as it should be. For the AirHead setup what assurances are given to the USCG that the AirHead contents are not being thrown overboard ? The same is true for the port-a-potty presumably on the R21EC ?

I know the Airhead is USCG approved under CFR 159.53. As for verification of compliance it would be the same as for a head with Y-valve and Macerator (by that I mean anyone can cheat and remove a tyrap or pad lock, dump illegally and then put them restraints back on. Most people are honest when it comes to proper use and the USCG will base their inspection on that.

Yes the airhead is approved by the coast guard. I believe the purpose of locking the y-valve it to prevent accidental discharge. Anyone who does not want to obey the law can discharge and a locked y-valve won't prevent them from doing so.

The sale of the Macerator pump and Y-valve is now closed. I had a bit of serendipity this afternoon - I'm about 3/4 of the way through the new Airhead install and I had removed the Raritan toilet, pump and valve and was hauling them in my dock cart up to our truck when I passed between two of my neighbors on their boats and I jokingly asked if anyone needed a new head. To my surprise one of the fellows piped up, "We were just talking about my toilet woes and, yes, I'll buy them!" Anyway, he's happy, I'm happy, all God's children happy!"
