The Yanmar engine panel that came with my boat (2010) was not functioning correctly. The engine hour meter did not display (common issue as you all know) and the idiot lights and alarm did not come on when you turn key on as they should to indicate they are working. Not sure if the alarms where not working due to sending units or the panel itself.

I ordered a custom panel from AC DC Marine in California made up the way I wanted and pre-wired to match the Yanmar harness. Full color coded diagrams came with the new panel as well as 24/7 tech support. They also provided the new oil and water sending units to work with the gauges I wanted to use.

While installing, I called on a Saturday and the technician was at home or at a party it sounded like and he spent as much time with me as I needed to get the panel in and wired initially. Then another call with it up and running to troubleshoot and help me program the alarms etc.
Amazing patience and expertise from AC/DC support. I emailed in a photo of how I wired it up and in one minute they called back and had me remove one extra wire not needed form the original Yanmar harness.

I have to rate the board, value and the tech support as a 10! I upgraded to a full NMEA panel that will send data to the Garmin Nav station, with programable alarms and an amazing array of sensor options. I got a real oil pressure gauge, water temp gauge, excellent tach and it all fit in the small space of the original Yanmar panel. This was much less expensive than buying a replacement OEM Yanmar panel which only has the idiot lights and a weak sounding alarm.

Got a picture of the new panel?
and what kind of $ are you talking, I see they start at $400.
Don't quite understand the garmin interfacing
Would be nice to have working gauges on my R21ec

I would call them and tell them what you need. They are very familiar with Yanmar panel wiring and possibilities. Basically you design the components you want and they build custom. I went with black panel and black gauges and to get all I wanted I had to trim the glass around the old opening a little. The panel still fit between the teak cutting board and the Blue Sea electrical switches..about 8" wide. I will take and post a photo later when I have cleaned up the dust from cutting.

Here is link to the base panel I got. They modified a little from there. I went with the upgraded VDO tach and have a button for GLOW and a button for STOP. The panels they show are really just a starting point.

Yanmar panels with just the idiot lights (if available) was much more. I think over $1,000.
I upgraded to the VDO programable Tach which can feed NMEA 2000 data to your plotter/nav setup if you want engine data appearing there. Most nav electronics have the ability to display engine data you chose. There is a plug they installed to connect to a NMEA cable feeding your other devices.
