For a while, we weren’t sure it was going to happen, but Elaine and I are finally proud owners of a new R27. It all started in Oct 2010, when we made the ‘mistake’ of boarding the R27 at the Annapolis Powerboat Show. We were hooked! Our second ‘mistake’ was meeting Jeff Messmer and Chuck Wistar of Chesapeake Ranger Tugs that day. It took a while, but with their gracious help, it all finally came together.
We’re sticking with the name Bay Ranger. Guess we’re not too creative, but the Chesapeake Bay is still our home base and the name fits. There might be a tiny Roman Numeral II after the name.
If we enjoy this boat (and what’s not to enjoy?) as much as we enjoyed the R25, we’re in for lots more great fun. To me, it says a lot about Ranger Tug brand when satisfied owners go for their second one.
We’ll be leaving Maryland sometime in early November headed south down the ICW to the Florida Keys for the winter after a shorter-than-ideal shakedown. Hope to cross paths with a few Tugnutters over the winter.
