New switch covers
The switches that came on our 2015 R21 EC are located along the starboard side of the cabin and wiper switches behind the wheel. They all look pretty much the same, the only thing to identify them are small labels on the switch panel. These labels are hard to read for these old eyes. I suspect this same style may be used on some other model Ranger Tugs as well. I wanted to increase their visibility so I thought of putting pieces of different colored gaffer tape on top of them to help distinguish one from another. Fortunately, I found a far better solution.
New Wire Marine https://newwiremarine.com/marine-grade- ... ch-covers/ makes a line of switch covers that replace the existing switch covers precisely. The benefit of these covers is that they have the relevant icon boldly printed in white on the cover and a very large and bright red lens that illuminates the switch when it’s on (you can also choose a blue lens) . They also sell a small plastic tool that makes removing the old covers extremely easy without damage to the switch. This is by far the easiest modification I’ve made to our Ranger Tug and the resulting improvement in visibility is well worth the price. I chose the all red color switch cover for the horn. I replaced all six side panel switch covers and the three wiper switch covers behind the wheel. Photos are posted in my gallery under “New Switch Covers”.
