I just got my new Ranger Tug 25SC this week and have enjoyed just sitting on it and exploring (the weather has been really bad around here). I have had ten new sailboats but this is my first powerboat so the exploration of "Adagio" is taking a bit longer.

Where do you experienced Tugboat owners stow your garbage? Most of my sailboats had a garbage trap in the counter. What do you do? Thanks.

We stow our garbage in the locker under the port v berth and get rid of it as soon as we can 😳. The drinks all go in the starboard locker to balance out the weight of our dinghy motor on the port stern rail. They are much heavier and make a good balancing ballast!

I have considered adding a compost trap in the counter behind the range in our R27. There is a lot of room there. Not sure about the R25 SC in that area though.

When anchoring out for extended periods package our garbage up into small plastic bags and then place those into a larger one to help keep odors down and any leakage at bay. We then put the larger bag into our dinghy. I've learned from others who have a roof mounted carrier that they use this area for garbage on longer anchoring expeditions.

Thanks Red Raven and Kismet. I appreciate your comments. I emptied the "cave" today and are playing around with some ideas with it. I'm trying to conceive something simple and small. Thanks again. I'll probably have other questions--hope you'll be able to help out.

To clarify, we keep a small garbage can on the floor under the dinette in front of the pedestal attached with Velcro to the floor. It is very convenient there when cooking. When the bag is full it is tied up and tossed under the port vberth. When the vberth is full it's time to find a dumpster.
