Hi,
We are the Habgood's. We are coming to NW on February 28th to pick up our new R-27OB.....Got Tug Go. It has been so eye opening to watch videos, read articles and learn about the boats and the people of this community. Starting with the RT factory team, to the folks "we get to know via videos" and the impressive boats they build, it has been a fun ride...... and we don't even have our boat yet! We are excited, scared and anxious. We are desert rats. Live in Phoenix. Never been on the ocean with a boat. But! We feel comfortable because of the community, the training and the overall support we will have from this group of folks. We are gonna do the "experience" for 2 days and then solo for 2 days. We hope to be on the water solo on March 2nd and 3rd. Then drive a 40 foot trailer back to Phoenix. Can't wait. Plan on doing a lot of the Colorado River (Lake Havasu) and Lake Powell (if it has enough water) and San Diego. One big goal is the 2023 rendezvous. Sign us up!

We have always used a phrase. Habgood Day! Now we are gonna add. Got Tug Go!

So, hope we meet someday and you all Habgood Day because we Got Tug Go. 😀

Welcome! Great name (though took me a second!).

So Martin,
If you had one weekend to run around Puget Sound and you were new to the area where would you go? Is there any place you would avoid? We will be running around the sound on April 2nd and 3rd after our orientation on "Magic Hour" and like Got Tug Go would appreciate any tips.

Thanks,
Tim

Salty Bliss crew favorites in central Puget Sound.
Gig Harbor, Tides Tavern they will serve you right on your boat or inside the restaurant.
From Gig Harbor it’s a short cruise to just go under the Tacoma Narrows Bridge.
Blake Island Marina State Park west of Seattle. Nice docks with power and night views of Seattle. Great hiking trails.
Bell Harbor Marina at Seattle water front. If walking the Seattle water front interests you.
Poulsbo Marina. Fun town and best bakery (Sluys)

Well done.... the wait is almost over for you. It's exciting for sure. Enjoy and welcome to the RT group of very helpful people..... ask your questions and get good advice in return.

Welcome aboard. 🙂

Tim,
Great question and great answer by the Salty Bliss. Didn't have a clue where to go. Not ready for Deception Pass.....yet.

Congratulations!! Can't really go wrong anywhere in Puget Sound IMHO. Poulsbo is perhaps #1 all considered for ease, charm, services, and availability.

Mainly I'd suggest to be flexible +/- 3 days on the weather window if possible. Also since it will be a shakedown and some minor problem is likely to appear, might want to stay in Puget Sound itself (more protected, closer to services) as opposed to trying a run to Hood Canal or San Juans (awesome, just more difficult to resolve issues during the winter).

Oh, and it will still be winter here and likely cold (low 40s-low 50s for highs), possibly windy, and rainy. March is prime GoreTex season!

Again, thanks on suggestions. Boat has been done since early November but RT had issues with securing trailers. Finally fixed that issue and were scheduled for delivery on Jan 17th. Looked at HUGE weather issues in January and re-scheduled. l watched a video of "Let's Go Channel Surfing" and they were walking in snow to get to their boat at the marina. The video was just a few days before we were scheduled.

You all are lucky to live in this beautiful state. Debbie is not a cold weather person so we will be staying in desert, but trailering all over country.

Habgood Day!

I'd add Tacoma's Dock Street Marina to the list, along with a +1 for Bell Harbor, and Poulsbo. Blake Island marine state park is a wonderful urban oasis. Great hiking, and a herd of deer. Sadly, Tillicum Village is closed indefinitely while the state looks for another private vendor.

Cheers,

Bruce
