I'm trying to get engine data on my chartplotter 4210 garmin but the manual says must have nmea 0183. I have nmea 2000
and the connect on the plotter on the back side 2000 is connected but 0183 connect is not. I can't find any wire connector to plug into the 0183 plug. Previous owner says never had 0183, only nmea 2000. Do I have to route a new wire with connector from the plotter all the way back to the engine? No idea how to route a wire through the boat (12'). You think they would make it easier.

From what I have seen 0183 is usually a wire connection and a connector with wire leads that you can get from the chart plotter manufacturer. I would also think that there is some type of interface that you would need. I would call Andrew from Ranger and see if he can shed light on the subject.

Hello jimbeam,

We did connect to the NMEA 2000 backbone. You will need to find your communications from the Garmin plotter and find out if you are connected to the Engine as well so you can see data information. If you don't see anything connected to the Engine, you need to make sure the NMEA is connected and no loose connections here at the backbone.

Thank you,
