No Heading on GPSMAP chart

On a recent outing (2019 R23) the heading and depth did not show on my Garmin chart (right side of screen). After researching this site, I got the depth to show by going to the sonar screen and setting the gain manually then going back to the chart screen; however, the heading is still blank. Any thoughts on what's happening and how to fix it?
 
I'd try power cycling the ignition while the chart plotter is still on. Does the heading show any numbers or is it flat lined?
 
The heading box just shows flat lines -- _ _ _ _. What exactly is power cycling? I read something online about upgrading the software thru ActiveCaptain as a fix. Another thing--the boat was stored in a boatel at my marina for about 3 weeks, so maybe that affected acquisition of the satellite.
