Happy Holidays to the Factory guys,
I have a problem with electrical power going to supply the boat.
Here are the circumstances:
I plugged the boat into my un-grounded house exterior outlet. Up at the helm, the reversed polarity lights were on and the meter on the right side showed a reading for power coming in. I plugged 2 regular lights into the boat outlets to generate some dry heat. In Pennsylvania, the temps were 5 to 15 degrees . I checked it about 5 times and everything was on and fine .
The nest time, lights were off and no reading on the power display at helm.. The shore power line did exhibit an active red light, however all electric power was off. The port and starboard boat outlets are not tripped.I did open the hatch and the main breaker was thrown. I flipped the main breaker back and still nothing.

I am heading to the keys and needed any advice about my problem. Next year I will not used an un-grounded outlet to keep battery charge up.
Thank you and any thoughts would be helpful.

Check your ECLI. Not exactly sure where it is on your boat or if they had one on your year. Next check your inverter. If it is a promariner it has an automatic transfer switch. They are known to malfunction. I have also seen some supplied inverters supplied with a ground fault outlet and the panel feed plugged into that. If yours is that setup then check that the ground fault has not tripped. Is your 30 amp breaker at the panel on? The promariner also has a reset button. try that. If the promariner transfer switch is gone, then a unit replacement is necessary. Xantrex makes one that is basically the same configuration so a switch out is pretty easy. If you do replace it you can also set it so that the auto switch to inverter is disabled. Make sure you do that. If you are ever on shore power and the power goes out and you are not around with AC appliances on, your batteries will go dead. By the way many people get the reverse polarity when plugged into the house. Especially on a ground fault outlet.

The 30 amp main breaker located in the hatch on rear port side snaps as soon as the shore power is plugged in and will not stay on...?

John,
Whenever your boat is out of the water and you plug in shore power (even if the receptacle is grounded) you will most likely get a reverse polarity indication. Simply attach a grounding wire from your rudder or prop to the house ground (copper water pipe) or to a metal fence or to a grounding rod that you stick in the ground. Problem solved.

Did you try a different plug in the house? Did you try turning off the breaker at the 110v panel to make sure everything is off. Are all breakers at the panel off? Then plug in power and see what happens? Maybe a coincidence. If power stays on turn on panel breaker and then one breaker at a time and see if it pops off when you turn on a specific breaker. I would also disconnect power to the inverter as a last resort to see if that is causing a short.

The 30 amp breaker was fried. After replacement, no issues.
Thanks for the reply
