Nova Kool Thermostat Replacement - FYI

Just an FYI - If anyone is having trouble with their Nova Kool refrigerator working intermittently, you may want to start with the thermostat. It is an easy replacement, can be accessed from the front, and does not require pulling the unit out. The part was $39.33 before tax and shipping. Our unit is nine years old and when I pulled the old thermostat out some chunks of rust fell out of it. When I installed the new thermostat and turned it on the condenser started running immediately. The drinks are now cold again!

Paul, we found the same solution for the same problem on our 2022 Nova Kool, so this is probably good info for owners to keep handy for a boat of any age. Thanks for posting!

I had issues with my refrigerator and installed a small computer type 12v fan behind the fridge wired to the thermostat wiring, it goes on when the thermostat tells the refrigerator to kick on; no problems since then. Plus it gives some ventilation in that area....

Super timely info. Our 7 year old thermostat started acting wonky two weeks ago. Did a major defrost and that seemed to resolve the problem.
We have a big trip to the Broughtons coming up in 2 weeks so I ordered a spare thermostat just in case my fix turned out to be temporary. You just can’t be over prepared!

That thermostat is for the Nova Kool R4500 12vdc model. Thats what we have in our 2017 C-28. Not sure if other NK models need other thermostats.

Thanks. Mines a 2017 29s and I have fridge inside and in cockpit. Will need to check models.
