I bought a 2005 R-21 and the county needs information for the tax assessor. They know it's not a documented boat but they still need to know the displacement, the net tonnage, and the gross tonnage. Do you have some numbers that I can give them?
The reason the county gave for requiring the information was since the boat will be used occasionally for commercial fishing we need to fill in all the little blanks in the form. Logic and common sense doesn't apply here, the bean counters want some numbers.
Any help you can give me will be appreciated.

Hello,

I would print the brochure for the 21EC and give them that information. You can download it on our website at Rangertugs.com.

Thank you,

Andrew

If the info you need is for the R-21 (classic)
You're welcome to copy the pictures of the original R-21 brochure that I have in my album.

Thanks guys but neither idea gives me...or the beancounters...the numbers that are needed. I'll try using logic and common sense with them again. Wish me luck.

The numbers are there in the brochure...you can plug them in to the equations in this link.

Those displacement etc.numbers that they want, really don't need to be exact just believable. They'll use those same equations if they want to be bothered checking (they won't). They simply need a form filled out...doesn't mean they give a darn, or the ocean or lake will overflow if you guestimate too small.

I've plugged in some numbers that seem good and put it in my album with the brochure.

The link is kind of fun to play with

That's a great link. Just for grins I plugged in the measurements from a couple of tugs I ran. The actual tonnage came out fairly close.
You're right about the clerk just needing some numbers to fill in the blanks but some of them take their jobs very seriously. I learned from a lifetime of dealing with various government maritime agencies that it's always good to have information that's at least believable...if not 100% accurate. I've also learned not to irritate them unless absolutely necessary.

Thanks again for the link.
