Im going to replace the Shaft packing with a dripless packing. does anybody know the OD for the Stern tube on a 2008 R25 classic?

Sorry, I'm not sure the size of my 2008 R25 yanmar 4jh4hte 110hp engine. I did replace the packing in the stuffing box with GFO dripless packing. It is similar to the regular packing but you first put it in ( 3 strips) and run the boat a few times and slowly tighten the stuffing box about a 1/4 inch till it stops dripping. I did this about 4 years ago and just readjusted it the other day. I also have a temperature laser and I check it while running. I was told that a Temp. under 105 degrees is alright. Mine runs about 85 to 90 even in the hot summer when the water is very warm down here in SE Virginia. I have never had a problem with it. I readjusted it since I thought the stuffing nut might have loosened up a tiny bit.
I'll check the shaft diameter and let you know. Actually I think it might be 1 1/4.

The gland is a marine hardware 1 1/4 gland. Go to there web site to get the tube size dimensions. The tub size will equal the size of the barbed tube that the gland hoses attaches to. I would look it up but my internet is sketchy in the anchorage we are lying in. While the tube dimension is needed also the seal length to confirm you have enough room to install it. I installed new Tides seals in my Mainship this winter. I was not a fan of them but the boat is 20 years old and still had original seals. I wanted to upgrade them to the new style. I believe they are more compact when compared to PSS seals. Maybe a bit more pricey too. Something to look into.

Marine Hardware catalog, p27, shaft stuffing box data:
shaft 1 ¼”
hose 2 ¼”
packing ¼” 3 rows
