Off shore fishing

What are your thoughts of off shore fishing, say 20, 30 miles out in the Atlantic? Handling 3 - 5 foot waves and speeds? This would be in a Cutwater 30 or ranger 31.
 
I prefer fishing in the lake, not the big sea. Firshing with a small boat give me much more enjoyment. I like it.
 
I take my 25SC 30 miles off shore of RI when the conditions are right. A 30' boat should handle those conditions you describe easily, but can the crew handle a day of being bounced around? Always pick a good weather window. I like to see a good marine forecast for the day before, day of and day after the planned trip.
