Greetings one and all,

I've been an occasional lurker here for a few months with the hopes of eventually owning a Ranger Tug. Well that happy day arrived today as I signed the papers and became the proud owner of a new Ranger 21. I will get a test drive in my new Hero Red tug from Andrew one week from today. Then I will enthusiastically embark on my new "cruising" adventure-lifestyle.

I look forward to getting to know many of you personally, as well as via e-mail and messages here at Tugnuts. I have also notified Dave of the Solitude that I will attend the Northwest Ranger Rendezvous in September, and hope to meet many Tugnut afficionados there.

I look forward to being an active member of this online community, and appreciate the good will and good spirits I've seen here already.

Cheers,

John

P.S. I'm at a loss for what to name my new boat. Any suggestions?

Welcome John! And congratulations on your new Tug.

No help from here on a name - that's probably one of the toughest choices to make!

Welcome!
Hope to see you out on the water this summer!
If you are ever in Edmonds, let us know-

John,
You are on the list! That makes 15 boats so far! I have spent the week in Bremerton at the Hampton Inn right in front of the Bremerton Marina. If we get weather the week of the rendezvous like we have had this week, well we would all think we have died and gone to heaven!

As far as a name..... we have owned the; Meghan Melissa, our Catalina 22-named after our daughter, Tenacity, our Catalina 25 named after my wife's personality (she will deny it and say it is my personality), Tenacity Too, our 9 foot Boston Whaler, Scum Bucket, our Windmill 16 Sailboat (named by our daughter), and Solitude, our R-25 which we use to find our "Solitude" on the water. The point being, naming your boat is very personal.

See you in September!
Fair winds and following sea's to all!

These little tugs are great little vessels. Pleased to hear you got what you wanted.

We went thru a zillion names before I selected TUGLET for our tug's name (a play on piglet and Sublett). My wife wanted to name it TUGLITE. Since she decided hotels, motels, condos and B & Bs were her desired accomodations when traveling, not the Marine Trader 38 we'd planned to replace our Albin with, I figured naming rights of my tug were mine. She still reminds of her choice of names. 😉

Get used to the "Oh, it's so cute" comments, especially from women. Everyone has questions and want to see it. I recently put TUGLET in a marina because I'm having neck problems making backing a trailer difficult. It is the second boat on the dock and all the traffic comes by and comments.

Gene,

Funny you should say that. I showed a female colleague of mine the boat today on my computer screen. Her exact words: "Oh, it's SOOOOO cute!"

We have the same problem. Our R-25 is also Hero Red so thought about calling her 'Red Rose' . We are British and I am from Lancashire, or even, 'Scuffy', after the little red tug in the childrens' book. We take over the tug in September when Marc transports it from Wefings Marine to Florida.

John, Congrats! We know the feeling well, waiting to take delivery and that first launch! And why is it that "Hero Red" makes it all the more exciting?? Just be prepared to fend off the word "CUTE" constantly: actually we've come to love the added attention, but look out>>>
As for naming her, well that is truly a very personal decision. In our case, since "Kamalani" was actually Sherry's boat, and since that name translated means "child of a chief, favorite child ...." read: spoiled princess, well, when the shoe fits...
We hope you enjoy your new boat as much as we have ours.
Alex & Sherry, "Kamalani"

Congrats on the new tug! Irene & I bought a R21 three months ago and we still get a kick first thing in the morning when we look out at the dock and see our Chalupa. Our boat came with the name Chalupa and we sidestepped the angst of naming the boat by keeping that name. Yo quiero Taco Bell!

We know you will love the boat and we welcome you aboard.

Duke & Irene.....(I'm Duke..*pointing* she's Irene)
