I'm looking for some recommendations for an oil changer kit for my R25's Yanmar 150 hp engine. I'd appreciate knowing what other are using for oil changing and any tips for the oil changing procedure.

I plan on changing the oil myself -- any issues with this ? ...or should it be left to a professional Ranger mechanic ?

You can borrow my oil changing pump if you would like, I just did it in the Nellie Too today. Send me a PM, I live in Bothell.

Bob: Thanks for the loaner oil changing kit. It was great visiting and talking with you -- and I just didn't realize how many Ranger Tug folk were in the Bothell-Woodinville area. 😱

Does one use a special tool for removing the oil filter casing or does one simply use an adjustable wrench etc to loosen the casing ? I've looked down the port side of my Yanmar 150 HP engine from the opened step just inside the cabin/cockpit door and see there's not too much room for maneuvering a long handle wrench!

Bob has advised me to take care when removing the oil filter casing as it can drip oil quickly if oil is warm (as it should be for sucking the oil out in the first place) and make a mess in the bilge. His advice was to have a plastic bag handy and place the casing with filter into the bag and then remove the filter from the casing to catch the residual oil.

Yep -- saw that. Thanks... 🙂

Oh.. and BTW, I told Gill about the on/off shower head and she smiled and said good idea.
