Percival Landing in Olympia underwent some renovations this year. The docks now have power and water. Last night as we were out walking along the waterfront, we were delighted to see the docks there filled with boats from a visiting yacht club. This is now a great alternative to mooring at Swantown Marina when you visit Olympia as you are right next to many restaurants and shops, and it is just a short walk to the Farmer's Market. As a bonus, you have a great view of the Capitol with its dome lit up at night.

Can't wait to revisit Olympia and the south Sound.

Thanks for the update. We really liked Olympia too.

Willie and I loved Olympia when we spent several days at Swantown. We are anxious to visit again and try out the improvements. Sounds like fun.

I thought I'd add onto this old post rather start a new one.

This past holiday weekend, we discovered this wonderful dock right in the heart of Olympia right in front of the state Capitol building and situated on the wonderful boardwalk amongst many restaurants, parks and marinas. IMHO, this is now our go-to marina in Olympia due to it's great location, available power and water, and many available slips, even on a holiday weekend! Swantown is less conveniently located although they did add a nice fuel dock last year. Only draw back is that it takes a half hour to go between Percival Landing and Swantown at no wake speed in order to get gas. Oh well...

All in all, we're very happy about our discovery this past weekend!

Thanks Lois and Dan Cheney. This is good to know about as I've yet to explore south of Seattle in over close to 10 years now. 😱

It is good to hear that you had a good stay along Perceval Landing. Unfortunately, we have talked to some boaters who stayed there recently and had unpleasant experiences due to the problem of increased homelessness that Olympia is experiencing. One boat reported having a stranger board them in the middle of the night, another reported a bicycle taken from their cockpit, and there was a complaint about an onlooker just staring at a boat for an elongated period of time, making the crew uncomfortable. These may be isolated incidents, and all were reported to the authorities.

Olympia is a great place to visit, especially with the Farmers Market open Thursday through Sunday until the end of October. And, you will have a lovely cruise through South Sound waters both coming and going. We have a choice of docks, Perceval Landing or Swantown (about a fifteen minute level walk from Swantown to the market, where you can take a free shuttle up to the Capitol campus).
