I have a 29-inch inseam and can barely reach the forepeak sole when sitting on the edge of the v-berth mattress, so I could do with less depth in the stateroom. Always hunting for more storage space in my R-27, I wonder if anybody here has raised the forepeak floor by installing a drop-in or hinged false sole and used the "crawlspace" for storage. Any comments and/or advice? Thanks.

I put the filler cushion in that area bringing the sleeping area right to the cabin sole step. Gives me more realestate up forward, and lots more storage underneath that's easy to get to. It does keep me limber swinging my feet over my partners head as I escape from the stateroom !

We do the same as Alice J just be sure you don't cover over the air conditioning vent that sits back up in this area, if you have air. On our R27 we had a cupboard door, identical to the galley ones, installed by Ranger Tugs just below the microwave. This door gives us access to the area below the dinette for a great deal more storage. We also took out the cave mattress and added some Bed Bath and Beyond plastic drawered cabinets in the entrance to the cave, for more storage.
