It has been just over a year that Maureen and I started our great adventure of “Tugging” aboard our Ranger Tug “Karma” in the PNW. In that time we have seen a lot of great places and met even more great people. However, as with every adventure, one day they come to an end. Our adventure aboard Karma in the PNW is now coming to an end.

Maureen was offered and has accepted a great promotion with Sam’s Club (which she rightfully deserves). Along with this promotion though, comes a move to Denver Colorado. While many would say that you can still commute from Denver to Seattle on a weekly basis, it is not that easy. With the one hour time change and goofy flights to and from Denver, this would take a toll on Maureen in a hurry (her new job will have her traveling even more than she does today!).

With that in mind, we have made the decision to sell Karma. While many people say the two happiest days in a man’s life is; the day he buy’s his boat and the day he sells his boat, we disagree. We will be saddened to sell Karma. Not so much because of her, (she is merely a material object, I know, that statement shocked Maureen too) but because of all of you who have befriended us and shared part of your life with us.

Maureen and I have committed to Jeff and the Ranger Tug Factory to continue our part in planning Tug Fest 2011. Once we start sometime, we are going to see it through to the end. Not only will we plan it, we will also attend it. We will be the ones in the hotel though……..

Karma will be leaving Port Orchard bound for Alameda at the end of January. Patty at Farralone Yacht Sales will be handling the sale for us. If you are interested in purchasing Karma, you may contact Patty at 510-523-6730 or myself at 702-203-8631.

Our new adventure will begin shortly after relocating to Denver. Our plans are to spend two to three weekends each month visiting various parts of North America. There are a number of places that we want to visit and see and this move will give us the opportunity to do so. Maureen is especially excited to see North Dakota…….

Thank you again for all of your friendship; it has been one of the greatest adventures in the many adventures of life!

David and Maureen

David,
Quite a surprise, Toni and I wish you both the best as you move forward. Thank you for all your contributions on and off this forum, hopefully you can return to boating sometime in the future.

Russ and Toni,
While this will be a big change for us, we are excited and look forward to it. It is like a vacation that you are set to head home on and say to each other, I wish we had a couple more days. We have all been on those vacations where we wish they had ended sooner...... This is one of those adventures that we have thoroughly enjoyed and don't want it to end but it must. At least for now.

We will still have our Boston Whaler to play on until we purchase our "Retirement" boat. The plan today is; sell Karma, bank all of the money we are spending on her each month, pay cash in five years for the next boat and GO BOATING! And, while we may not have a boat to play on, we plan to make many trips each year to the PNW. We will just be land bound....

We will attend the Seattle Boat Show each year to see what is new and exciting. We already have started the list of what we want on the next boat..... This is just a temporary break from "big" boat ownership.......

Thank you for your kind words. We have enjoyed the time we have spent with all of the folks in the PNW and look forward to reconnecting in a few years. (We will bring our next boat home to the PNW)

We will miss all of the great people we have met.

David and Maureen

Congratulations to both of you. I'm not at all surprised by Maureen's promotion, or your shared ability to move on to the next phase of your adventurous lives together.

We'll miss seeing you somewhat regularly, but will look forward to new possibilities. And we'll certainly miss seeing the only yellow boat in the area emerge from Rich Passage and make it's way by our home on the way to Bell Harbor.

Shift happens! Cheers!

Very surprising news, of course! Congratulations to Maureen -- and blessings on your new adventures.

From what you've done on Karma, can you advertise it as "lightly used"? Well cared for in any event.

Bruce and Dave,

Thank you both for your congratulations to Maureen. She is very excited and has worked very hard to get to where she is moving onto. It in nice for me, as this time I am only along for ride. My job remains the same...... Now, if they would have doubled her salary...... I could have just resigned and stayed home...... Oh well, off to work I must go!

Anyone interested in Karma can check out the upgrades that we have done by visiting our web site at:
rangertug25-solitude.com

On there, you will find pictures of the hardtop as well as the numerous other changes we have made. Under the page of Karma Upgrades is also a complete equipment list.

David & Maureen, Ida and I are happy to hear that Maureen is getting the promotion, but hate to see you guys sell "Karma" and leave the area. If you find yourselves in the Anacortes area in the future, call us and we can at least offer you a place to stay and if the weather permits, a day on the water on "Adventurer".

Congratulations Maureen on your wonderful promotion and good luck to both of you as you start your new adventure!!! We sincerely hope that your North American travel weekends bring you to the Canadian Gulf Islands soon and often!!! Once we got over our initial shock, Patrick's first comment was " I guess we will have to organize the Points North Cruise this year then!!"

Thank you both for all you do for the Tugnuts community. I doubt that without your leadership we would have had the opportunity to make so many wonderful new friends, nor would we have taken the opportunity to discover Puget Sound and the wonderful boating there!! You will be missed, but always with us in spirit!!

Love

Gail & Patrick

That's It

While you are out and about in North America, feel free to put Apalachicola, Florida [ my favorite place in the Panhandle] on your list . Its tug friendly and a very nice place to visit . We enjoy meeting the folks that make up the Ranger family !

DAVE AND MAUREEN, IT SEEMS LIKE ONLY YESTERDAY THAT YOU AND A GUY WITHOUT A CLUE INADVERNTLY CHOOSE THE TIME AND PLACE FOR THE FIRST RANGERTUG RENDEVOUS.. IF LIFE IS BUT A COLLAGE OF MANY VARIED PICTURES,, YOU GUYS HAVE CERTAINLY CONTRIBUTED MORE THAN YOUR SHARE TO THE GREATER PORTRAIT THAT COMPRISES THE RANGERTUG OWNERS GROUP.. FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS YOUR WISDOM AND EXPERIENCE ABOUT CRUISING ON A SMALL BOAT HAS ONLY BEEN A MOUSE CLICK AWAY FROM THOSE SEEKING COUNSEL... IT IS SAID THAT FOR EVERY DOOR THAT CLOSES,ANOTHER OPENS.... SO UNTILL THAT INEVITABLE DOOR THAT OPENS AND LEADS YOU BACK TO DEEP BLUE WATERS,,, MAY THE WIND BE AT YOUR BACK AND THE ROAD RISE UP TO GREET YOU.. ALL OF US IN THE TUGNUT FAMILY ARE BETTER FOR HAVING KNOWN YOU.... STEVEANDTINA

Steve and Tina as well as all of the others that have either posted, called, sent email or PM's,
You are the toughest part of selling Karma. As I put in the initial post, Karma is but a material thing and all material things can be replaced. It is the friendships that we have made through the Ranger Tug family that truly made this a very tough decision. These friendships cannot be replaced.

All we can say is thank you for your kind words and well wishes. We are not going to say good bye though. Good Byes are final and this is not "final". This is but a temporary lapse, we will be back in the PNW within five years. We will continue to check into the Tugnut's site however, as we will not be tug owners, postings will be far and few between (other than Tug Fest Updates!). This site is for Ranger Tug owners along with Ranger Tug Wanabee's and hopefuls. We currently are soon to be past owners.......

Again, Thank you

Hi David and Maureen,

Jim B. here, C-Dory owner. I enjoy this forum, perhaps because it branched off from the C-Brats, but also because I enjoy reading about people who use their boats... and the Ranger Tug owners seem to use them as much as the C-Dory folks. I just wanted to let you know how much I've enjoyed your posts on this forum - really appreciate your friendly, up-beat, enthusiastic manner. As an experienced owner, you have plenty to add here, boat or not.

I do understand the need to move on, though. I was a moderator on a sailboat owners forum and continued with that job for about 6 months after we sold that boat. Even though we had moved on to the C-Dory, I still enjoyed participating... for a while. There is no doubt that your input and presence would always be welcome here.

Good luck with this next chapter.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Good Karma!

What a great opportunity this is for you two, and you two are certainly folks who will make great use of the doors that this promotion for Maureen opens for your life as a couple. Looking at it from the "other side" of retirement, your plan to pay cash for your retirement boat is SOOOOOOOOO VERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRY wise! Five years will fly - each year goes faster and faster as you approach 60 and beyond. God bless you in all you do!

We thank you again for all you have already done for the Tuggers, and look forward to TugFest - let us know how we may be of help! See you at the boat show!

Sunny and Fernie
