Hi,
I was just replacing the impeller on our 2011 R-27, Yanmar 4BY2-180. While looking around for leaks and other stuff to do, I noticed that the outlet of the water lift muffler was in contact with the bottom of the rear cockpit deck at the rear of the hatch opening. Since the muffler seems to like to vibrate in harmony with the running engine, it seemed that this contact would tend to transmit this vibration right into the cockpit floor. I pried the deck up off of the muffler a little and used a hacksaw blade to remove some of the thick fiberglass that was making contact (see after-photo below). What do you know, the rattling in the rear door, swim step railing and whatever else was vibrating back there at idle has gone away. Wish I had found this 8 years ago when we got the boat, oh well better late than never.
