Our Adventure Begins!

I've been an active, but unofficial, Tugnut for a few months now (and a lurker long before). My partner Colleen and I are pleased to announce that we have finalized the paperwork and are going to become the proud owners of a new R-27! The factory will begin production mid-April, with an anticipated completion date in mid-May.

We are so excited to be on a path to owning our own Ranger Tug. We are also very excited to be joining this group as an Ranger Tug owners. This is a very special community, which we knew from this forum, but learned first hand when we dropped in on the Points North Seminar and met a few of you in person.

With the order in, I can say that we have experienced what so many have described here -- the incredibly positive experience of dealing with Kenny, Andrew, Jeff, and the other fine folks who make Ranger Tug the special company that it is. We know that working through the building of our boat will be a uniquely positive and satisfying experience.

Meanwhile, I have said it before, but I will say again what a rich resource you all are. We went into the final decisions on how to configure our boat with so much more insight and understanding than we possibly could have without this forum. Of course, Jeff and crew are amazingly helpful too, and we have been in good hands with them. But the user experience that gets shared here simply can't be matched. We have learned lots, and to good purpose. Thanks everyone.

And so, our adventure begins. I've already got questions to ask, but for this post, I just wanted to share our news and tell you how proud we are to be official Tugnuts!

Congratulations Gini and Colleen! We have been enjoying our R-27 for the past year after buying the floor model at the Seattle Boat Show. We didn't have the opportunity to "build" ours, but it came pretty much the way we would have ordered it had we thought about buying one that way. We will look forward to hearing how you rigged your boat and hopefully have the chance to see you on the waters of Puget Sound, the San Juan and Gulf Islands and perhaps points north. Enjoy the adventure!

Questions????..... Ask away as the knowledge base for the Ranger Tugs along with the expert Factory folks is limitless and I doubt there are any questions asked here that do not get an answer. This is the place to come when something is troubling you or you simply want to discuss some issue small or large.

Oh... and photos please, when you can.

Oh... if you can make it to the Ranger Tug's Kent factory to see your boat being built that's an experience and a sight worth having.

Yes, we will definitely be asking questions, big and small, as they arise. In terms of questions that come up during production, this group has already helped answer the many configuration, etc questions we have had. The next wave are likely to be ones that start coming up as we meet our boat and begin to get to know her. 😀

Yes, we will get on Bruce's World of Tugs! Had forgotten we can do that now. That will be very satisfying! Makes it feel all the more official.

We were able to get up to Kent and tour the factory for about an hour a couple of weeks ago. The process was fascinating and I'm just enough of a do-it-yourselfer that I could happily spend every hour of the building process there watching. We are going to try hard to get up there from Oregon at least at a couple of points in the building process, and in between, Andrew is willing to take photos of the progress and send them to us. All very exciting. We'll be posting pics when we get 'em.

So, one more tug, two more Tugnuts. Exponential growth!

Don and Brenda, we'd absolutely love to be going to Desolation Sound. It looks like the registration is closing. But the bigger problem is that we will have difficulty for family reasons (elder care) getting up to the Puget Sound for the next couple of years (although it isn't out of the question entirely). Meanwhile, I noticed, Don and Brenda, that you are out of Roseville, CA. Near my home town of Carmichael. Where do you do most of your boating?

We look forward to posting updates during our building process, and crossing paths with many of you, newbies and experienced hands, when we can. Best to all! Thanks for the welcome aboard.

Congrats on your new R27 ours is getting built too 😀 but alas we are in WA (Western Australia) so cant get to the factory to see the build in progress 🙁 but looking forwards to getting the boat here and enjoying the great tug family here 😀 as well as the great family of "TugNuts" as they said no question is to hard to answer which makes it so easy to learn how to enjoy our wonderful Tugs 😀

Congrats to you too, Peter and Ronie! If we get to the factory to look at ours when the hull first comes out of the mold, yours may still be in production. We'll give it a good luck pat for you, and send a photo (I know the factory will probably be sending you some photos along the way, too). You are right about the forum -- it's the best. Makes the ownership experience all the richer. We'll be learning lots together! Take good care.

Hi Gin

I noticed, Don and Brenda, that you are out of Roseville, CA. Near my home town of Carmichael. Where do you do most of your boating?

Our full time house is in Roseville, yep very close to Carmichael. We have a vacation home on Camano Island and our boat is dry stored in Anacortes. We bought our boat from the factory used at the Sept. boat show. prior to that we had a C-Dory which we towed back and forth and would run around the San Juans or when down here the Delta and a few lakes. We will be moving north next year. I was up over the weekend and just got back to Roseville, that 14 hour drive gets longer each time!

Hi Gini & Colleen,
Thanks for giving our R27 a nice good luck pat 😀 We don't think you will miss it if its in the factory as if you not read our pervious threads we chose "Hero Red " as the hull colour 🙂 as we think its a nice safe and bright there is only a R21 here that is that colour so it will be a first and also the first R27 in Western Australia making the full range here 😉 for other people to see, admire, and hopefully want to place an order hehehehehe.
We are getting more excited every day the waiting game is no fun but sure will be worth the wait 😀
