First of all I want to thank all of you that wished us well after the arson fire of our R-25. I would like to also thank Andrew C. and Long Beach Yacht sales for all their support, patients, and help in replacing our beloved boat. We took delivery of our new R-27 about 6 weeks after the fire.

We are really happy with the new boat. She is faster, handles better and all is good. While she is very similar to the old boat, things just don't quite fit where they used to and that has kept me busy. The weather in California has been a lot wetter than usual, and the kids soccer, robotics and otherwise busy schedule has made it so we have not had as much time in the boat yet, but I have been outfitting. 🙂 I want to thank all that post their modifications, they inspire me! I did not post the mods from the old boat, but as promised, here is what I have been upto in my spare time on the new one.

I have pictures in the gallery for: Teak hook on shelves, bar mat, bedding, stainless hooks, custom drawers, off the shelf drawers, pin rail, rear camera through the MFD, front curtain, usb port, skylight shades, split table cushion, v-berth shelving, soap dispenser, and more.

I don't have pictures for or yet...
Bimini Top of sorts--I sewed a tarp of sorts for the aft deck, using dark blue sunbrella with some gold strips, with grommets in the corners and bungee cords to the rack and then 2 PVC pipes that I stick in the rod holders. It works great and looks actually very nice.
Audio cables from the TV to the Fusion stereo. The TV sound is not perfect, but through the stereo it sounds great.
Cover for the outside table when it is stored.

I have more on my list, so I am sure there will be another post or two.

Take Care,

Peter Schnack

Nicely done, looks great.

Great Modifications! Would you let me know where you bought the water temperature controller? It appears that you moved from a 25 to a 27 - We are considering making the same move - would be interested in your impressions after you have had a chance to put some hours on it.

The water temp controller is actually off e-bay, from China <$50 (just look up thermostatic mixing valve, that will get you going). I put the more bar looking ones in both an RV and the R-25, and loved them. This one I thought was the same thing in a single valve, I was wrong... But I just put a inline on-off shower valve on it and it works great. What I do is then screw a shower hose and head on when we are using it with a shutoff on that too. I saw where someone did the same thing inline for the hot water in general, that I also thought was a good idea. The hot water after running the engine can be pretty hot.

As for the move from the R-25 to the R-27 though not an intended move, has been great. We probably have 12 or so engine hours under our belt. We have a lot of medium size wave chop here in SoCal and the 25 could be a pretty wet boat at times. The R-27 rides much smoother, faster and dryer. More fuel and water are nice too. Love that we have a microwave and oven now. F-R-E-S-H chocolate chip cookies, yum. We have been very happy so far with the new boat. If you do make the move, the biggest problem for me (and it is not big) is that it is very close to the same, but not the same, so everything got moved!
