We just brought our 21EC home today. It's green, it's gorgeous and we can't wait to meet other Ranger 21EC owners. On our trip home to Gabriola Island, we hauled Gizmo on and off 2 BC Ferries. Everybody that walked by stopped to admire our little tug and wanted to know all about her. We have been sailors and boaters for years, but this is just so exciting.

Hey, know what you must be feeling. We just got our new R-27 after jeff and crew used it for a couple of months in shows. We love it and love the full range of Ranger Tugs. They just feel good. Cheers, Michael and Ellen of Shiraz Trader. We have good friends who just purchased a house at Lady Smith. Hope we can meet up next summer.

Willie and I were fortunate enough to go with Dave Livingston in your 27 from Bremmerton to Seattle to set it up for another boat show. You would not believe the tight space that your boat was maneuvered into by Dave. Thanks for letting us enjoy it. I know you will love this boat.

Congratulations on your new Gizmo!!! Your experience on the ferry's is just a taste of things to come. On the street, people are always honking and waving. You cannot just run into the store for something quick - people will wait for you in the parking lot to talk to you for an hour about "your cute boat". When launching or recovering your Gizmo, someone will always offer to help so they can get a closer look. I have had people chase me down in their cars, and once in a golf cart. People even chase me down in the water to get a look. You can look forward to some great adventures. Welcome aboard.

Welcome to the world of Ranger Tugs!! I always say we have to keep That's It tidy because we never know when someone is going to want to see inside! Every man that stops by to speak to Pat ends up bringing his wife back to see our tug!

Hope to see you out and about in the Gulf Islands!!

Gail and Patrick Beattie, waving madly from Salt Spring Island!!

Gail and Pat: We look forward to meeting you - being Islanders - how fun is that. Gizmo is already making new friends for us. Too funny. Jody and Cliff

Michael and Ellen: Ooooh, yours sounds devine and we too hope to meet up with you this coming summer. When boating season is back on us, we will look you up. Jody and Cliff from Gabriola Island

Jody and Cliff,
Congratulations on your new Gizmo! Karma will be making a trip or two north this summer. Watch for our posts and hopefully you will be able to hook up with us for a day or two along the way. Jody & Cliff,

Welcome to TugNut World. Last year was my first cruising on my R21: Port Nut. I saw a few other 21s at various marinas, so they are out there. The Gulf Islands are a spectacular cruising ground which I am sure I don't need to tell you. I made it to Gabriola on one of my cruises. The return home from Silva Bay to Crescent Beach was the longest one-day leg I made all summer. Hope to see you out on the water and you can catch my photos/stories on my site. Have fun out there and congratulations.

John

Hey John: If you get this way again. Give us a call from Silva Bay. We are in the phone book under Robb.

Maureen and Dave: Thanks for your well wishes and looks like we are hoping to meet lots of you "Tug Nuts" next summer. I have been documenting names of boats and their owners, so that we will have a heads up if we see a Ranger on the water. Jody and Cliff

Welcome aboard to the world of Ranger tugs! We are also a "green" ranger - LE (that's limited edition) R-25, the Laurie Ann. We often cruise through the Gulf Islands as we launch our boat at the very nice boat launch in Everett, WA. We'll look for you on the water!

Laurie

Too much of a good thing...

I have rented a new dock in a much more remote and private area. I kept my new EC-21, TARA, at a very public marina just in front of a new Hotel on Seneca Lake in Watkins Glen, NY. I started to dread going to my boat because people were driving me nuts with questions, photos and admiring comments. Tourists buses with folks from all over the world ignored the "private dock" sign and piled on my little boat to have there pictures taken by friends and family. In short, it became a nightmare after a few days. I guess I understand some of it as a fan of classic wooden boats and as a former builder of small classic watercraft. TARA looks quite a lot like a boat compared to the 30 and 40 foot Clorox bottles that she is docked with, and that is the main reason I bought a EC-21 for myself. I did not want the misery of taking care of another beautiful classic, wooden boat and could not quite bring myself to buying something that looked like a 1960's car without wheels. Mostly folks wanted to know how much did the cute, little boat cost. When I told them way too much, they would sometimes persist and I would finally say....with trailer, taxes and all the bells and whistles, about 75K. That would usually end the inquiry. I love my little boat, TARA, and don't mind so much leaving the public area, but I do go boating and fishing for relaxation, not infamy for being a fool with my money.
