A follow up to my question last week - i called the Florida Lee County Tax Collector in Fort Myers ( after being on their web site ) and was told a out of state vessel in Florida for over 90 days requires a Sojoener (?? ) permit - a decal to put on your boat . 27 Ranger - $ 122 cost . got to love taxes !

JUST BE GLAD WE DON'T GET THE GOVERMENT WE PAY FOR.

Dave,
That 90 days is cumulative in a calendar year. So if one were to go to Florida and stayed 3 different times for 30 days each on the next return they will technically be required to get a Sojourners permit.
I have one and when I called to get one the woman had no idea what I was asking for. I told her to speak to a supervisor and she finally knew what I was talking about. Then she asked me the million dollar question;" How will we know how long you are here?" The truth is if some local official wants to check they can figure it out. And there have been instances where there were some local agents that took the initiative.
I have one and it is the same registration decal, but no numbers associated with it. It is the same as if you had the boat documented and register it in any state you may be required to be registered. Hey, for $122.00 you get a pretty good playground to play in.

Plus you will save at least $122 dollars because of the much cheaper fuel and alcohol purchases. And the snow thing has to be worth something.
