How/where can I carry a small outboard engine on my 25 SC?

I store my Torqeedo outboard on the floor of the cave. I put it inside a golf bag travel cover for a little padding. Torqeedos have been thoroughly discussed in other forums on this website, but I've found mine to be an excellent choice for this type of boat. Briefly;

Advantages;
Can be stored securely and out of sight inside the cabin,
no gasoline fumes,
no need to find a place to store gasoline (gasoline should never be stored below deck on a boat without a bilge blower),
quieter,
"greener",
and cool GPS function that shows speed, power output and range on remaining charge.

Disadvantages;
Costs twice as much as a comparably sized gasoline engine, and
Can require up to 10 hours to fully recharge.

Here are my "specs". I have the Torqeedo 503 model and an 8'9" Maxxon inflatable dinghy with a slatted bottom.

Motor weight 28 lbs.
Maximum speed 3.6 knots (Range on full charge 2.2 Nautical Miles; about 35-40 minutes)
"Cruising Speed" 3.0 knots (Range on full charge 6.5 Nautical Miles; over 2 hours)
Recharge - Approximately 1 hour for each 10% discharge; i.e. if my battery is 70% charged, 3 hours are required to recharge.
Charging power; 30 watts (per the display on my inverter) or about 2.5 amps, so a fully discharged battery would consume approximately 25 amp-hours from your house batteries. Preferably, I try to recharge mine when I'm running the engine or plugged in to shore power.

Good luck with your decision!

Check out Weaver's web site/catalog. I installed an outboard motor mount on the transom of my 25SC last summer, it works great, swings out of the way if you have to stand on the swim platform and makes an easy transition into the dink Other thing is you don't have to wrestle with your outboard and potentially tweak your back or stub your toes by carrying through the cockpit area. I hang a 8 HP 4 stroke.

+1 on the Torqeedo. I have the model Travel 1003 and am amazed at how little power it takes to move a slat floor Bombard, the thing will run for hours. I also store it in the cave. I like the idea of using a golf bag travel cover and will look into this.

The Torqeedo 503/1003 manual explains how to use a 12V batteru source for charging. I plan to make a cord for this, should be more efficient than the 12V->110VAC then 110VAC->12V conversion process using the inverter and standard Torqeedo charger.
