I ran across a great weather blog for this region, by author Cliff Mass. I just ordered his book, which comes highly recommended, to enhance the USPS Marine Weather Forecasting class I'll be taking this winter.

In yesterday's entry, he looks at the computer forecasts for what should be a pretty big storm on our coast and inland waters this weekend: Big Storm

I read his book - thought it was great.

It took a little searching, but I did finally find where they post the forecast models. Now to watch the weather come in. I may have to take a trip to the coast to see those waves! (since I'll have the day off - I'm supposed to go out on Patrol on Island Ranger, but with that forecast, I doubt I'll go..)

Based on what I'm seeing and hearing outside, it looks like the forecaster nailed it.

NOAA agrees.

Yep - it was fun last night. The Kingston/Edmonds ferry reported sustained winds of 30 knots - we had power flickers as usual. I enjoyed watching the barometer drop just as the model said it would. Neat web site!

Lightning and thunder were rocking here around 2300 hours. We overlook Elliott Bay and there's nothing between us and the oncoming weather. The rain was hitting our windows so hard it sounded like hail. Cat's hid under the bed.

Yep - Queen Anne lost power for 3 hrs so my daughter told me. Out in Woodinville we did not lose power and the rain was horizontal at times. 😉

I think we missed the brunt of the storm in Woodinville area.
