My yard will not use copper based antifouling paint on my prop and rudder on my 2008 R21EC. Therefore it fouls quickly and badly. They say copper based paint will harm the prop and rudder. Any ideas? Erica

A product called Barnacle Buster works great on props. It comes in a spray can, but costs a hefty $40.

When my boat was on the hard in Florida a46' boat next to me had 2 of the cleanest props I have seen. I asked the owner what he used on them. He smiled and said Rustoleum Cold Galvanizing spray paint. They had been painted over a year ago.

Yes, that is the product

A friend of mine is sold on egg whites. 6 coasts and it was still clear after a year.

Propspeed is the product of choice for this. Here in Seattle the commercial yards swear by it and the good haul-out yards like CSR will suggest it as part of a bottom paint package.

I'm kind of shocked your yard didn't suggest it, and I would actually be a little hesitant to use/trust a yard that told you what they did and didn't suggest this or a competing product.

Nothing has worked long for us. Diver says he knows of nothing fthat holds up on props. We have diver clean monthly, try to schedule before trips.

Maybe they just don’t want you to know that there’s something out there that makes their job (potentially) obsolete?

I kid.
