What's the general consences on painting a dark colored hull to make it more pleasing cosmetically? My 2008 dark blue hull is not horribly oxidized but I'm getting tired of polishing and waxing it just to have it look bad in a month or less. I understand that an Imron painted hull takes very little maintenance (waxing is not recommended) and will last for years. I got a quote of just under $5,000 to paint the hull on an R25. That 's a lot of money but at the $1,000 rate for polishing/waxing that some of you have quoted, it may not be that out of site. I heard one comment though that painting could lower the value of a boat rather than increasing it since prospective buyers may wonder what the paint is hiding. To me, that doesn't sound significant. Also wondering about the pros and cons of Awlgrip vs Imron. It seems Imron is easier to touch up if scratches are a problem later. Also thinking about boat wraps instead. Anybody have experience or words of wisdom?
