While winter gangs on in the north we were treated to an outstanding weekend for a boat show in West Palm Beach, Florida. Carol and I took our R21EC to the boat show were we spent the weekend using the city docks. On our way south we passed the Rybovich dry dock where Polar Star was in for refit. This is a common site in south Fla during the winter months along with the manatees.
Always on the lookout for something new and interesting we found a new company called Fab Dock (fab dock.com) at the show with a product that may interest many in the north. It is a dry docking system that allows you to drive your boat onto the enclosed floating system. The rear is then inflated and the water is pumped out leaving the boat high and dry. No need for bottom paint, less zink replacement, no need to tie up a bunch of lines and advertised to be cost effective over several years of use. An interesting concept from an Australia company where the product has been sold for several years. Unlike the boat in my photo the systems are custom fitted to your boat.
Also attended some of the Passage Maker sponsored TrawlerPort classes which are free on a first come first served basis. These were quite informative as well.
