My Panther Remote decided to not work when I went out fishing. I replaced the battery in the FOB and still no luck. I’m curious if others have troubleshot this yet.

Panther Marine (https://panthermarineproducts.com/) talks about reprogramming the remote, which I at least attempted to try. They also mention having to replace the FOB and/or the relay. The transmitter is $77 and the receiver/relay is out of stock. Anyone replace the FOB for their Panther Steering?

Then there is the wired controls for the Panther Steering that FM provided me when I got the boat. I got a bag with two things in it. 1) a receiver/relay and 2) a push button switch with maybe 12’ of cord. The wireless is definitely more convenient, but functioning system is needed. I can see the receiver/relay mounted in my R23 lazarette back by the batteries. If I went this route, it looks like I need to replace the receiver/relay and run the wire to the Panther. Anyone do this hard wire method? If I replace the receiver/relay will my wireless work if I later replace it?

Well, it turns out the rod got stuck and the FOB needed to be reprogrammed.

For those of you who might experience this in the future, that rod self threads into the Panther unit on the kicker. Take off the ball joint and ball on the rod, then unscrew the rod and pull it out. Clean it up, then grease the rod and reinstall. I used to grease regularly, but after reading the manual, they said just once or twice a year. Looks like regular grease in the saltwater environment is needed.

For the FOB, I didn’t read the manual clearly. Push power button and two red lights blink showing that the relay is on. Then, push both directional buttons to reprogram. You can here the relay click on. Then, all should be working.

I’m still wondering about the hard wire method. If anyone has done that, I’d love to hear about it.
