Hello All

Just a quick question about winterizing the V6-240-CE.

According to the manual, all that is required to winterize is disconnecting and draining hoses and that this can be done in the water.

Is this what folks do in practice or do you still run antifreeze through the engine once the boat is on land?

Thanks
Sean

Your engine is a gasoline Volvo Penta stern drive and they were never used on Ranger Tugs.

If you Google search on " Volvo Penta V6-240-CE Winterization Procedure" you will get many pages that have the info you need.

I have a Cutwater 24 which does have this engine. Tried google but can't find specific experience from boat owners winterizing these newer Penta Gasoline engines.

Thanks
Sean

Hey there Sean,

I would suggest that you read the engine manual which should describe how to winterize the engine. If you don’t have access to it, get me your serial number and i can download a pdf version and look it up for you. Please use my direct email if you need further assistance.

Best regards,

Sean,

Sorry, I didn't know what boat you have.

If you fill out your profile, other Tugnuts will know what boat you have, and can give better answers to questions. Good luck on your search for winterization instructions.

Hi Sean
I also had forgot about this option. Must be a fun boat. I saw one at Port House Boats and was surprised. Do you know if your engine has closed cooling ? Does it take antifreeze ? I would suggest putting Muffs on the outdrive and running antifreeze through. The bottom line is wherever there is water make sure you remove the water completely. Adding the RV antifreeze offeres added protection in those areas. Remember to drain your Hot water tank.
