My previous boat (19' C-Dory Angler) had a 70HP Suzuki with a Perma-Trim as well as two trim-tabs. Using all three it was easy to get on plane. Once there I could trim everything up and gain 1-2mph, and in calm water also be able to lower the throttle some, saving fuel.
I recently bought a 2026 C248, it has the stock Yamaha F250 and the stock trim tabs. I was told that it was cool to run the outboard trimmed all the way down, but I'm thinking a Perma-Trim would make a big difference. So far, even with everything trimmed 80-100% down it still rides bow up even on plane. Not that I want a submarine...
Please let me know if you think this an OK idea.
