I had the boat out of the water for a quick second today (2016 r25sc). On the prop shaft, behind the propeller, there was, what we thought was a tangled line, on the shaft. We proceeded to cut it off and realized it was rope around plastic. I am trying to find a picture but thought I would ask and see if anyone has any idea what I cut off. It was not a zink. I've never seen anything like it. A few others at the boat yard were also confused. Thoughts? Thanks!!

If it was line from a crab pot that is polypropylene line. When it gets wrapped around the prop it gets tight and forms a ball this can cause a great deal of cavitation. I have seen a line wrapped tight between the prop and the strut and melted forming a plastic film. This may possibly be what you are finding between the prop and keel extension.

I like your theory. My very first thought was crab pot until we saw the plastic but with the correct type of rope, it would melt. Thanks for your thoughts. I'm with you. 😀
