I recently purchased a 2015 21ec with 30 hrs on it . There seems to be a little too much play in the steering. At the rudder everything seems tight and slack free.is there an adjustment at the wheel under the dash?

How much loose is there? Mine is about 2 inches.

Not sure if this is the same issue as you have, but my wheel was loose and squeaky. I pulled the wheel off the hub to find an incorrect washer which was preventing the wheel from tightening against the taper hub. I opened the I.D. of the washer and now everything is nice and tight.

Mine do not squeak, the steering is tight. there is only loose when I turn the helm to port or starboard it takes about 2 inches before i get the feeling that the helm pulling on the cable.

Is your tug the one that was for sale in Québec last year?

We purchased it August 2014. Hauled it back from Saint-Donat Qc, CA

Hello paulspbe,

I don't believe the R-21ec has an adjustment for the steering. How much play is in the wheel?

The R-21ec and R-25 have two different steering systems. The R-21ec has a cable driven system, while the R-25sc has a hydraulic steering system.
