Poets cove fishing

Looking fwd to cruising the gulfs next week. I’m hoping to do some fishing and crabbing, and I’d love any tips or local knowledge of fishing grounds near the Penders
I hope to fish nearby over the weekend then spend 3 or 4 more days fishing the area before turning south
Any tips and opinions are greatly appreciated

Hi Ernie, we will hopefully see you at Poets (we have some air in our steering hydraulics and hopefully getting repaired May31) but in case we don't make it here are a few fishing ideas. Pender Bluffs (which are very close-by) for salmon, Coal Island has had good reports recently, and Georgia St has been on fire lately (Thrasher, Porlier, South Galiano etc). Island Outfitters has a very good weekly report online which gets updated late on Mondays. While I haven't crabbed in Bedwell Harbour there are always traps there so it should be decent for Dungeness and the other side of the Penders (Hope Bay area) has excellent crabbing. Commercial prawning has been going for 3 weeks now so forget prawning for a while. Depending on where you will be cruising after the Rendevous you could go out to the Costance Bank area which is 6 nm off of Victoria and can be very good for halibut and is usually very good for salmon. So lots of choices.
