Wife and I took a look around port of Edmonds Marina today (comparing Edmonds and Everett, but Edmonds would be preferred). We noticed a few Ranger tugs there, so hoping some of those owners are on here.

Something that is interesting about the marina is that they use a lift for putting the boats in and out of the water. Anything to be aware of with Ranger tugs on that? How do you do overnight parking? What is parking like during the summer?

Anything else that is useful to know about the Marina?

We've only been to Port of Edmonds once. I do know that there is a good ice cream shop nearby.

A lot of tug owners (or transport services) prefer to not immerse their trailers in salt water. It's considerably more expensive then a launch fee at a boat ramp but if you are keeping your boat in a marina then it would only be an occasional cost.

If you need a boat ramp there should be plenty around. I know that I used a multi-lane one up in Bellingham for our C-Dory.

We'be been in Edmonds since Feb 2015 and have been very happy. We leave our Ranger in the water and have a covered slip so the only time we watched the sling launch was when Kenny delivered the boat. Super easy since he did all the work and worrying. Parking has never been a problem and we've been very happy with the marina staff.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks. I'm hoping we'll be there with a boat soon... dreaming.

My family has had moorage at the Port of Edmonds for over 50 years. It is a safe and well managed marina, rebuilt about 18 years ago after a snowstorm sunk the 1960's original covered docks. We keep our R27 in the water year-round in covered moorage. Zincs last about 6 months in the harbor. Kenny from the factory launched our boat upon delivery using the Port's travel lift, no problem. With a smaller boat (Grady Gulfstream 23) we previously used Dry Storage, but that lift and rack cannot fit a Tug as large as ours. The Port also has a work yard lift with reduced rates based on fuel purchases. With training, a tenant can use the fuel island self-service and save 10 cents per gallon with a Port card. We live within walking distance of the marina, so it's perfect for us. We can make many weekend destinations within 90 minutes from Edmonds, 3 hours to Anacortes, 4 hours to Roche Harbor.

Only 6 months for Zinc's? Wow 🙁

What about bottom paint?

We kept our R-25 (Classic) in a covered slip at the Port of Edmonds for around 5-6 years.

The Marina is very clean, structurally well engineered and safe, walkways are kept clean, security is top notch, staff very friendly, free coffee at the office, free special parking areas with a Pass Card you hang/place in car (can buy extra cards for around $5 for you friends etc), two lifts, one of which has been recently upgraded for heavier load and huge travel trailer for the really big boats, DIY fueling after training with $0.10 discount per gallon, several restaurants on dock-side, Sounder Train station nearby, nice down town shopping, Movie theatre, coffee shops, grocery shops, several restaurants in Edmonds, and so on.

The Marina allows divers to maintain under water anodes, and yes, these don't last long as we were replacing every 4 to 6 months.

Bottom paint redone every 3 to 5 years. Can be done in adjoining repair yard for a daily fee.

This marina is very very clean.

Nearby is a big unleash dog run and a nice family beach area facing the water (very popular in summer).

If you stay overnight on your boat you will not get much (if any) sleep. This is because trains roll by several times each night. The tracks are just a few hundred feet from the Marina. The train is obliged to sound its horn at two crossings; one for Ferry and one for traffic/pedestrians. It's VERY noisy.

Marina allows overnighters for 9 nights per month.

Wi-Fi is available.

Docks float up/down with tide.

The moorage fees are not cheap. We were paying close to $450/month.

It's best to secure a slip midway or further out along the walkways as when tide comes in the slips closer to the bank can have a lot of surface crud lingering around.

Online monthly payments can be made.

Free USCG Inspection for several summer months each year per making appointment.

There can be significant swells at times at the mouth of the marina to the Sound. Something to be aware of.... especial if the swell movement is going into the marina.... it can kind of surf-board you in at an alarming velocity.... so go real slow as you enter.

We chose Edmonds because we live in Edmonds. 😉 😱

Hi baz - I live about 20 minutes north of the Marina. Slip is reserved... now just got to finalize purchase of our new R25.

Good luck..... with the purchase of R-25. 🙂 The Edmonds Marina will take good care of you and the boat. What size slip did you reserve ?
