Portable Generator through shore power plug.

Running a portable generator aboard C26. Plugged into the shore power plug. Works great EXCEPT, it the geteator surges slightly when the battery charger is on. Also, red polarity light comes on at the boat breaker board.
2016 Cutwater. New clean power 2000 watt portable gen. Any ideas?

Disconnect the ground pin at the generator and buy an extra carbon monoxide detector,

Get your affairs in order. This type of generator produces lots of co.

The reverse polarity is a common occurrence and has to do with the way the unit is grounded. Not really an issue. And make sure the exhaust is facing out the stern door and only use during times you are awake and aware of any co poisoning symptoms.
