Potable Water Winterizing with Compressed Air

Just getting acquainted with my new R-31, am interested in constructing the plumbing to winterize the fresh water system with compressed air - I have the Ranger parts list. Comments on experience? Keeping the pink antifreeze out of the system is an attractive option.

2014 R31cb I use compressed air by pulling ice maker out and putting air in at water tubing. By repeatedly blowing air in I thought i was getting all water out. I did not get all water out of cock pit shower nozzle so I now have a new and better one and take nozzle off in winter to allow water to drain. I thought I was getting all water out of water heater as well , never had any damage but last year I removed the anode and there was still water in the heater. It seems like I’m blowing bits of fiber/ pvc out into all aerators on the facets , facets and divertor valve in shower., each have needed to be cleaned .note our marina has triple filtered water and we use a filter on hose when filling tank. This past year we were out if town a lot and had hard freeze , never thought about our single cup coffee maker , we now have a new one . Just our experiences . Still don’t want pink stuff in the tubing . Hope this helps

Thanks. Actually with my boat I think I can use a nozzle on the outlet side of the water pump.

I have a 2017 R29 Sedan and have been using compressed air since I got the boat. I use a nozzle on the outlet side of the water pump and keep it in place while my wife opens/closes outlets, etc. while I release the air.

Never had an issue but....I created a checklist that I follow closely to ensure that I don't miss a step. Happy to share if you would like to see our process.

My concern was that water would be trapped in the hose leading up to the Icemaker , I have since installed a sea dog hose bib water outlet in fiber glass beside the ice maker . Now I have access to water supply and by removing brass cap I can blow out the lines. Just my thoughts .

I spoke to a person with knowledge who told me that after blowing out all the water on the boat, turn the icemaker on and have it make ice. Once it stops making ice, I turn it off, clean the inside, and mark it done!
