Our boat is currently on the hard at Seaview Boatyard in Seattle for Bottom Painting.

I am concerned about the heat buildup inside the cabin during this weekend’s heat wave.

Any thoughts about damage to electronics and other equipment?

Heat wave in Seattle area? Now that's funny! It is scheduled to be 115 degrees over here on the other side of the mountains. You will be fine, but it wouldn't hurt to leave a window or hatch cracked open.

Hi Kaptajnen,

What Bob said. (but just for Bob's sake, it is supposed to get above 100 on this side of the hills on Monday 😀 ) Just keep a hatch or two cracked and keep the curtains drawn to block out as much sun as you can. That should be fine. Also, it's only going to be hot for a couple of days. Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Ralf

Do not, I repeat do not leave chocolate covered almonds in the galley.

Nor Reese’s Peanut Butter cups. The peanut butter could separate from the chocolate. Or maybe that is only in Florida. Not sure what would happen if it only gets to 100 degrees.

All good advice above. Having lived in both Arizona (where we’ve seen 118degrees/10%humidity) and Florida (99degrees/99%humidity) I can say humidity is the greater concern. Put the covers on the electronics, run a fan to circulate the air and, if you want, a small dehumidifier. We keep one in the head, draining into the sink.
