Has anyone looked into a prelude system? This is a device that supplies oil under pressure prior to start; thereby (theroretically) preventing startup wear. The postlube system provides oil under pressure to the turbo on shutdown and it prevents wear and provides cooling preventing coking. It seems like a good idea and is fairly simple, cheap thing to have on pricey engines.

I have known postlube on turbos including cars. Great for cooling and lubricating a turbo that is still spinning at high speed after shutdown. I've also known prelube in cold climates with heaters in the sump.

A couple of thoughts:

I generally idle into the boathouse at the end of a run. I don't think the turbo is running at a high level.
I wouldn't add anything to an engine in warranty unless the manufacturer assured me it wouldn't affect that warranty.
I'd be interested in the price.

This is a very good point. I pull the throttle a half mile or so out on the lake, set fenders and dock lines then cruise in at a leisurely pace. I also leave engine idling until on trailer or securely tied to dock + check all gauges before shutting off. If an engine is run under load at high speeds then immediately shut off - damage from overheating can result. Yes I have even had boats pass me inside the marina's "no wake" zone.

Another suggestion - use good quality synthetic oil and filter.

yep I guess post lube not needed so much---However it seems like prelude would be good, especially on an engine that sits around for a while --maybe like winter storage? I see they even have them with a intermittent oil system--something like once a day for 3 minutes. Sure seems like it wouldn't hurt, but it does complicate things and could be a source for a leak.
