2018 R-23 with Lewmar Pro-Sport windlass that stopped working. House battery bank shows 13.7 volts. I can hear the click of the connector or solenoid when operating the helm or foot switches but no movement of the Gypsy. The breaker is not tripped. I can rotate the Gypsy without feeling a bind. Where is the contactor box located? I can hear the click coming from inside the main fuse housing in the head but can’t see it. Any help or advice is appreciated.

Start from the windless and work back. Assuming your battery is good, check all electrical connections at battery and solenoid. Use one of those piercing probes on the wires at the windless and see if there is power as someone engages the windless switch. Keep everything including hands away from the chain. That could result in a bad situation. If you have power at the wires going into the windless then you have a bad windless.

At the SWF rendezvous 2021, Mike and I troubleshoot a R23 windlass. The contactor was located behind the panel door in the head. During this we determined the windlass motor had failed. The Voltage checks were all good all the way to the windlass itself. The windlass would not operate. The boat owners said it worked fine, then it worked intermittent finally it quit working. Troubleshoot first as Mike stated before assuming it is a bad motor.
