On our 2018 R29S when we use the shower the sump pump turns on ( humming noise) but does not engage to discharge the water, most of the time. If I unplug the spade fuse n reinsert it the pump engages and discharges properly.....but as soon as the pan/tray fills back up it doesn’t engage (still starts to hum) until I unplug n reinsert the fuse. I’ve made sure the discharge hose is not clogged and have just cleaned the float, pan and pump housing. It acted up before the cleaning as well as after.

Your thoughts and or suggestions!!!

Sounds like corrosion or other gunk on the impeller or shaft is "locking" the motor after it sits for a period of time. Mess around with it and give it a sudden burst of power and the start solenoid maybe just gives it enough of an oomph to get things turning again. Only thing I can think of when the flow is asking it to go, and the pump isn't working on demand but only with "persuasion". This opinion is mine alone, and offers no other earthly basis for any credence or due consideration. Good luck but it sounds like a new pump will solve the problem if it's not user serviceable.

Hello Jim. Remove the bottom basket on the pump. I was having similar issues and found the basket reduced the suck. No more issues. Don't ask the why or how, but it worked. Good luck.

Thank you both. This morning I took the pump out, cleaned the debris around the impeller but also saw that the rubber O-ring was loose....too big, which would also prevent proper suction. I’ll replace with the proper sized o-ring and test it again.
