I just ordered a new Volvo E Key from parts. Is pairing it something I can configure/do as the owner, or do I need to have a Volvo tech out to do the programming?

2018 R-31 CB if it makes a difference.

Thanks!

I’ve done it. Took me less than 10 minutes, including some figuring out.

From the Volvo manual under "Key Management":

Key Management
Adding or removing a key to or from the system can be done in either the Battery Control Panel or the 2.5", 4" and 7" displays. A system can have up to four keys, which are numbered from 1-4.
Adding a key
1 Navigate to the menu Settings > Key Management.
2 When the text Show e-Key For Authorization is shown hold a key that is already registered in front of the key panel. The system will check that the key ID corresponds to a key registered in the system.
3 Select Add a key.
4 When the text Show e-Key To Add is shown hold the new key in front of the panel. The system will store the key ID.
5 The addition of the key is confirmed on the display.

Awesome thank you!

My boat did not come with the Volvo manual; still trying to sort out ordering one.

I will take delivery of my used C30 in a couple weeks.
The owner swiped a square wireless key.
I don't know how many there are as I didn't think to ask.
How much do extras cost and can they be purchased anywhere or special order from Volvo?
Thanks.

You can get one from Ranger Tugs parts, parts@rangertugs.com. When I ordered an extra last year it was $75. The boats typically come with 2, but it is a good idea to have an extra one or two. (In fact I think I will get a 4th one soon.)

I just ordered another one from Ranger Tugs; it was ~$50 and was on the parts sheet.

Thanks for the tip on the Volvo manual page; I had found that earlier but forgotten about it.

As a separate question, Volvo has two different (but very very similar) manuals for my engine (I put in the serial #). One is labeled "EVC" but *both* of them have detailed EVC information...
