The ProMariner TruePower 2500 watt Combi 2500QS inverter charger on my 2013 RT R31 died. ProMariner no longer makes it, as they now offer 2000 watt models, instead. Should I replace the 2500QS with a reduced wattage (2000) ProMariner using their pure sine wave-2000PS or the modified sine wave-2000MS? Comments in the forums seem to favor the pure sine wave to work better with TVs, coffee makers, and sensitive electronics, etc.

Or, should I look for a 2500 watt inverter charger, and if so what? The newer R31s appears to use a KISAE inverter charger (model & wattage unknown to me)–would you advise this as a replacement? If so, which model and do I then need to rewire? Finally, are there other good options you would recommend that require minimal rewiring if any? Thanks, Jerry on Alto in Marina Jack, Sarasota.

Hi Jerry,

Frankly, I would steer as far away as you can from Kisae. They just aren't reliable and I have seen SO many RT/CW owners have issues with them, including myself! I would highly recommend Victron if it fits in your boat and your budget. I went with the MultiPlus II 3000w / 120amp version:

Alternatively, if your boat needs and/or budget are less, I would look at the 2000w version of the original multiplus:

I would also highly recommend you purchase the inverter/charger from invertersrus.com, as they offer a free extended warranty, and they will configure the unit to your specifications prior to shipping it to you! Both choices are available from them currrently:
