When only 30 amp shorepower is available the shorepower charger does not energize when using either 30 amp receptical. Is this correct? This does not seem right. It charges and lights up when both are engaged or when using the generator.

I am posting a schematic of the AC wiring. The pro mariner charger should be wired to the shore power number 1. When you are plugged into shore power and the rotary switch is in the shore power position. The ELCI breaker is in the on position. The inverter battery switch is turned on the battery charger should be charging the batteries.

The two power cords used on the R29 are 30 amp. You must plug each cord in to a 30 amp receptacle. One is for the air units the other is for the rest of the 120V services.

If the dock only has a 30 amp service you need to plug both cords into separate receptacles.

If the dock only has 50 amp service you will need to plug both 30 amp cords into (1) 50 amp Y that splits (2) 30 amp services into it. This will allow you to have all 120 V services powered and the air unit 120V services powered.

If you are using the generator the selector switch is moved from shore power to generator this brings power from the generator to both panels.

If you are not getting 110v when each shore power plug is connected and your inverter switch is in the up position then you most likely have a bad automatic transfer switch. The Promariner cannot be serviced. Hence you may need a new unit. I am pretty sure that Promariner does not make that unit anymore, but there are some available on line. If it were me I would change to a different brand that would use the same wiring configuration to make an install easy. Xantrex makes one, but I am not sure what wattage you need.

Want to echo Mike’s comments. I lost the transfer switch on my ProMariner 2500 and found a used replacement on eBay, which in the end didn’t work. Fortunately I didn’t pay much for it. A mechanic finally found another used one and put it in. It is an easy swap. But since they do not make this anymore, when this next one goes I am switching to Xantrex. There is one quirk about the ProMariner that I have not figured out. When shorepower goes out, it automatically switches to the inverter. Right now, my boat is getting showed on in Elliott Bay Marina in Seattle. The space heater is on. If the power goes out we know how this ends. Another reason to dump the ProMariner and either put in a separate charger and inverter or put in a combination that does not automatically switch to the inverter. Mike can correct me if I am wrong on this.

Good luck!

Jeff

Following this thread with interest! We have the ProMariner 1500 QS and ours is not working properly either.
We used to be able to use the small 700 watt microwave off the inverter while under way; but now the inverter goes into thermal overload in just a couple minutes of usage. I know microwaves don't like the Quasi Sine inverters, so we should probably ditch it for a Full Sine wave inverter. Getting another combo unit or separate charger is the question. Following to see what others are using.

Promariner has 2 black breakers on forward side. AC one popped will prevent charge. Been there done that.

If the microwave does not like the power being delivered I would assume it would shut down. I have not heard of the unit supplying the power having the issue. If it was working before and not working now I suspect it is an issue with the inverter. In my research the xantrex seems like a good replacement. It is a combi like the promariner and puts out a good charge to the batteries. The good feature Is that you can program the unit not to switch to inverter if power is lost. Changing to a separate charger and inverter will be a lot of electrical work and I am not sure that it worth the effort.

I agree, I think it's an inverter issue, but I will switch to a full sine wave inverter for the sake of all the electronics. I'm looking at the Xantrex Freedom XC inverter/charger in the 2000 watt model. Much easier for wiring to put in another combo unit. However, this unit is a different shape and may not fit in the old location. I'm considering re-locating it to the cave for a drier environment. After all this snow melts I will go to the boat and do some measuring.
Has anyone used this unit?
