I am looking for advice on how to remove the prop cone anode. This is the first time I have done this since I have purchased my 2008 R25. I trailer my boat so the degrigation of the anode has been gradual . I removed the centre bolt quite easily but cannot get the anode to come off.I have put deep creep to it and tapped with a hammer but no luck. I believe there is a bronze insert inside but not sure how aggressive to be with the hammering. I would appreciate any advice from someone who has done this themselves. Also I would like to check the torque setting on the prop nuts at the same time I have the anode off. Does anyone have the recommended torque for these nuts?

Thanks in advance

I would not be too aggressive with it. That being said, what I am going to suggest may scare some folks. Use a side grinder with a cut off wheel and lightly cut through the cap screw hole. Wear eye protection and move slowly until you just see the prop nut zinc holder. On Ladybug, Too it is bronze. Make a second cut along the zinc skirt recognizing that it is fairly thin and work back to the first cut. At that point you should be able to break it free. You may be able to avoid all this by simply heating it with a propane torch. Its melting point is less that that of the zinc holder. I did not have a torch with me so I did the cutting and did no harm. Try the heat first. Just sayin'

Thanks for the suggestions, the heat would be my first choice. I'll give it a go tomorrow!

As a followup I used the propane torch and a liberal application of Deep Creep and was able to free the zinc. Thanks for the suggestion of using a source of heat to help the process along!
