Go around to pulling the bullet zink to check for a manufacturer of my prop. There are NO markings either on the front face of the prop or on the rear face of the prop. The only markings are the 13 RH 12 which I assume is 13 diameter and 12 pitch. I think I probably need an 11 or even 10 inch pitch for my altitudes.

I really just need a manufacturer source for these props. Any clues or ideas?

I'll post a pix of the prop on the tug nuts FB page.

Hello Harry,

The current tugs use props supplied by Acme Propeller (acmemarine.com). They will provide technical support over the phone; you can fill out a "help" page with info about your current prop/WOT/transmission info. They WILL need to know your gear ratio for your transmission. It is stamped on the gear somewhere. The Kanzaki transmission on my 21EC is 2.32:1 for example.

Harry .. could a reputable prop shop change the pitch to suit your needs... ? Rob

Yes, I have a reputable shop close by, but having come from the outboard world I keep thinking I need a spare prop. If I bought one, I'd get one a step or two down in pitch.

Maybe these props just never get hit because of the keel and I'm over thinking the whole issue. When I had the boat on Powell last month, it did really well at anything lower than 3000 rpm but would really balk at anything over. My sweet spot for 6 mph is about 2800. When I sea trialed the boat in Alameda, it would WOT at 3600, but I'm told they shouldn't be run there for any length of time. In fact it started blowing smoke out the exhaust after just a minute or two.

I'll get hold of ACME and see what they think.

Thanks for the info.

.. I wouldn't count on them never getting hit .. when I got my boat last year, first thing that became apparent was that the prop had been repaired at least twice .. it WAS a salt water boat tho' so more chance of hitting a floating chunk .. I'm packing the old one around .. at least it would get me home ... I replaced it with the ACME 4-blade that Ranger suggested for the 3ym .. Rob
