Today, first day of a 2 week trip and the stove burners wouldn't turn on, (we used the stove last month so didn't check before leaving). Short story the coil had 12v at the buttsplices (Which I cut). And is open when read on ohms (bad coil).
The takeaway from this story is we have not been consistent with turning off the valve with the propane detector/switch. So not only were we risking a propane leak when not using the stove, we shortened the life of the coil. (We leave the house battery on and shore power hooked up when in the boat house).
Lesson learned.
However if you find yourself in this situation you can bypass the valve until you can get your hands on a new one. You just have to make sure that you turn off the propane tank after every use, especially before you go to bed. (check all your connections with leak detector when done)
This all happened at the Everett Marina where we made our first stop to pick someone up. And I now have my new favorite store which has an amazing selection of mechanical parts. Harbor Marine Maintenance & Supply, 1032 W Marine View Dr, Everett, WA 98201
