Hello
When transmitting on the garmin VHF after about 5 or 6 seconds my propane alarm give a loud beep. Wondering if anyone has had this issue and how they solved it? Thanks in advance for any responses.

The VHF should be totally unrelated to the propane alarm. Has the propane alarm beeped more than once? The alarms do have a lifespan. I’m not sure what the lifespan is on the propane alarm but it is 5 years on the carbon monoxide alarm. I had to replace my CO alarm a year early. Obviously you should check out your propane system to make sure no leaks but after that check the propane alarm lifespan date.

I'm new to RTs but on jets I used to fly years ago we had numerous false cargo fire detection indications in the cockpit from ramp personnel using their radios inside the baggage compartment while loading. So, it is possible in some cases. Repeat the process a few times. If it keeps happening then and never at other times it's probably related.

I had an issue once ( not an RT) where using the VHF screwed up my Chartplotter. it turned out to be a ground wire issue. Once I put the VHF on a different ground buss it worked just fine. If you recently did something with the electrical you may have inadvertently caused the issue.

Thank you for your responses.
No modifications however have noticed poor range on my VHF so poor ground sounds like a possibility
It dose seem to happen every time I transmit so not intermittent. I will also check the life span of the alarm.
Planning to take her out this weekend for a cruise so will refresh myself with symptoms and check ground before going.
Did have the propane completely isolated and still the alarm so don’t believe it’s leak related.
